In emergency situations and dusty work areas, disposable respirators and dust masks effectively block out airborne particles. For short-term protection from contaminated air, emergency escape breathing apparatus and escape hoods enable individuals to safely evacuate hazardous areas. Fit-testing equipment is utilized to determine the proper fit of a respirator for the user. In potentially hazardous environments, respirators and gas masks, in conjunction with filtration cartridges, supply clean air. SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) draws high-quality breathable air from a compressed-air cylinder and delivers it to the attached face mask. PAPR (powered air-purifying respirator) pulls surrounding air through a filter and delivers purified air to the attached face mask.
